Architects and designers have created booth designs before, but these were unique objects, for example, for charity auctions. Hara, on the other hand, promotes the DIY philosophy: some of the 11 types of booths can be made on your own according to the drawings posted on the project's website, while the rest can be bought just like in a regular online store.
However, the Architecture for Dogs kennels are much less functional than the kennels that appeared earlier from famous authors: some of them are more like art objects and are unlikely to be liked by four-legged “clients”. In addition, each kennel is designed for a dog of a specific - almost exclusively room - breed. However, the organizers promise that the project will expand.
The site architecturefordogs.com will start working on November 15, and the first presentation of the project will take place at the Design Miami exhibition in early December. Among the participants, in addition to the already mentioned Bana, Ito and Grchik - Kengo Kuma, Kazuyo Sejima (SANAA), So Fujimoto, Kenya Hara himself, Atelier Bow Wow, Reiser + Umemoto.
