At the end of September, the Union of Moscow Architects announced a competition for the development of a new logo for the CMA. More than 450 logo designs were submitted to the competition in three weeks. At the first stage of the competition, the jury formed a long list of 155 entries. After the first round of voting, 16 semi-finalists were determined, and in early November the final results of the competition were announced. The winner was Stepan Lipatov, a designer who presented a minimalistic but meaningful three-letter logo - CMA. The new logo in an elusive, but obvious way resembles the previous one drawn by Eugene Ass (however, it no longer contains three geometric shapes). Thin lines resemble a pencil drawing - simple and symbolic. In addition, Stepan Lipatov became one of the laureates of the competition with his other work, depicting the logo in the form of the abbreviation Union against the background of a hexagon depicting masterpieces of architecture. Pictures inside such a "window into architecture" can change and alternate.
Ksenia Obrucheva has collected something like a flower from letters, in which each letter-petal is located in its own plane. The emphasis is on the classic combination of red and black.
Renat Khabirov presented an abstract geometric composition, symbolizing the same abbreviation of the Union. The author suggested a rich color palette for the logo.
With the letter "M" in the form of a doorway from "Archikada" presented the logo of the Union "Studio GD". If desired, you can see arched vaults or trusses here. Thus, in several lines, both graphicality and closeness to architectural images are found.
Tatiana Osetskaya, Alexander Salov, Ivan Russkov from the Arch_Slon bureau, in their own words, have developed a Suprematist composition made up of simple geometric shapes that reminds us of the history of the Russian avant-garde.
Inverted and slightly tilted to the right, the letter "A" looks like a compass and a pencil at the same time. The author of the concept Larisa Lapenkova, judging by the letter, assigned the central role in the logo to the architect and architecture, making it laconic and modern.
Ivan Potapov presented the logo of the Union rather veiledly. This image has something of the Soviet past. Maybe red and a five-pointed star?
Many associations give rise to the logo designed by Taras Nero. Of course, the letters "C", "M" and "A" are easily read here, but the silhouette itself resembles either a red heart, or an open book, or an inverted gable roof …
The most classic logo, following the traditions, laws of proportion and balance, belongs to Lyudmila Shurygina. It repeats the outlines of the facade of the House of Architects. And Lyudmila Shurygina chose the colors for her logo in the palette of traditional red-brick shades.
The solemn ceremony of awarding the winner and laureates will be held at the Central House of Artists on November 22. Registration to attend the ceremony is open on the Union website. However, the decision is still not entirely final: the project that won the competition will become the new logo of the AU only in case of a positive decision by the union's board.
