NEO Bankside consists of 4 hexagonal towers 12-24 floors high, with a total of 217 apartments (approx. 28,600 m2 of living space). There are no load-bearing walls in the interior, so the layout of the housing varies considerably. The steel frame is taken out of the buildings, and the facade is a curtain wall made of glass and wood panels. Such a decision, according to the architects of the Rogers bureau, should remind of the industrial past of the Bankside area (for example, the nearby Tate Modern is located in a former power plant building).
Glazed elevator shafts are located outside the building, on the west side, and the north and south facades are equipped with balconies that also play the role of a winter garden. Panoramic glazing allows you to admire the views of the City of London, which separates the Thames from the residential complex.
Thanks to the distribution of apartments in 4 buildings, it was possible to successfully connect the building site with the surrounding streets and lay through it two pedestrian paths accessible to everyone. However, Gillespies' landscaping clearly delineates the public space and the gardens at the foot of each of the buildings, which are intended for residents to relax.
The residential complex also includes a small building with shops and a gym. The project budget was approx. £ 120 million.
