Within the framework of the project, the legendary chair of Danish designer Werner Panton, which became a sensation of its time and a design icon of the 1960s, became the object of artistic interpretation.
DAVIS invited 17 Ukrainian artists to participate in the project, including: Artem Volokitin, Igor Gusev, Alexander Zhivotkov, Alina Kopitsa, Pavel Kerestey, Alexander Klimenko, Anatoly Krivolap, Pavel Makov, Nikolai Matsenko, Roman Minin, Vinnie Reunov, Victor Sidorenko, Marina Skugareva, Taisha 3.14, Oleg Tistol, Vasily Tsagolov and Nikita Shalenny.
Each of the project participants chose one of the Panton Chairs from the presented line of standard colors to transform it into an art object. The artists were not limited either in the choice of technique or in the choice of the theme for the creation of artwork.
The result was a unique collection in which a serial object of iconic design was transformed into a series of unique pieces of art.
The Panton Chair is the first ever industrial design monolithic plastic chair created by Danish designer Werner Panton and launched by Vitra 55 years ago. For its era, Panton's idea was revolutionary and became one of the first examples of applied modern art. Today, the curved shape of the Panton Chair is a classic and recognizable design icon from the 1960s.
The present project is not only a dedication to the Panton Chair, which has made the dream of generations of designers a chair that would literally consist of one piece of material, come true, but also to its creator, who, thanks to his perseverance and extraordinary perseverance, brought an avant-garde idea to life.
