Køge North Station is planned to be completed by 2018. It will become the “new gateway to Copenhagen” for the 90,000 people passing through the area every day, and an important route point for the 8,000 passengers traveling to the capital every day through this station: at least that's the number the architects are counting on. The main element of this intense and important transport hub for the whole of Denmark will be, oddly enough, not the station itself, but a 225 meter long pedestrian bridge. It is he who will connect the high-speed railroad, one of the busiest highways in the country, local trains and convenient intercepting parking lots with a total area of 32,000 m2 into a single transport hub.

The architects proposed a simple but elegant solution: a huge metal "pipe" will stretch from east to west over all overpasses, and this will be both a passage uniting all structures and a comfortable waiting area. The rounded southern wall of the "pipe" with chaotically cut-in rectangles of windows is closed for reasons of protection from the sun, while the northern one has continuous panoramic glazing that opens up views of the city, and a walk along this longest line of windows is a separate pleasure. The authors paid special attention to the organization of an extremely rational scheme of movement around the terminal itself and around it: they tried to minimize the distance between key points and "separate" the flows of passengers.

The external appearance of the transition clearly demonstrates a rather deliberate, a little tough, but quite logical for the transport architecture "modernity and innovation". But for many people, the train station is an integral part of their daily routine, such as commuting to work or commuting to nearby Copenhagen on weekends. Therefore, the inner zones of this universal space are solved more gently: their image is built on natural materials and rounded shapes. Thin wooden slats with built-in lamps and a spacious wooden bench along the entire southern wall will allow you to change the rhythm, stop and take a breath.
