The zoo in Giuscuda is still considered one of the best in Europe, including in terms of the conditions for keeping animals, which enjoy great freedom there. However, after the reconstruction according to the BIG project, it will become optimal for residents, employees and visitors alike. At least this is what the architects promise.
Their Zootopia project involves the creation of an open landscape for gorillas, lions, wolves, bears and other animals on the territory of Giuskud, divided into three zones - African, Asian and American. Visitors will be able to observe the animals from the rounded "main building" inscribed in the landscape with a square in the center, as well as moving around the zoo on foot, by bicycle, by car, by cable car and by boat.
So far, the project is only being developed, but its first stage will be completed in 2019, by the 50th anniversary of the zoo.
