Review-competition "Architecton-2014" is organized and conducted by the St. Petersburg Union of Architects. The main goal of the event is to determine the best projects and buildings of the Northern Capital, which will later take part in the all-Russian festival "Zodchestvo". This year the jury became international for the first time: the outstanding Finnish architect and architectural historian Severi Blomsted and the chairman of the Belarusian Union of Architects Alexander Korbut joined the discussion.
Congratulating the guests on the World Architecture Day, which is celebrated on the first Monday of October, the Honorary President of the St. Petersburg Union of Architects Vladimir Popov promised that next year Architecton will completely change its format. First of all, the composition of the jury and the geography of the participants will expand: over time, the organizers want to attract architects not only from all over the North-West and other regions of Russia, but also from the Baltic countries. In fact, "Architecton" will turn into an international festival of architecture, which will start in St. Petersburg and continue in other cities of our country.
The absolute champion of the current competition was Studio 44 - its projects received not only the Grand Prix, but also diplomas of various categories in almost all nominations (even one of the student's works was performed with the participation of Nikita Yavein). By the way, the head of the studio himself could not attend the graduation ceremony: he was in Singapore at the World Festival of Architecture.
There were not so many participants this year: in the category "Buildings" - 16 works, in the category "Projects" - 31, in the category "Thesis" - 18. We present a list of all the laureates. *** Best Build
