When this project began, seven years ago, preference was given to neoclassicism and other neo-transformations. “We staked on eternal geometry and won,” says one of the authors of the “House-Python” project, Arseniy Leonovich. The house is asymmetrical; it looks completely different from all sides. From a certain angle (view of the main facade) it resembles a python curled up in a ball.
The entrance area flows into a two-story studio-living room, unfolds on the mezzanine-library in the opposite direction, moves along the children's rooms and ends with the volume of the master bedroom, which hangs over the entrance. The unique architectural volume is dictated by the internal logic of the development of the space, as well as by the configuration of the pentagonal plot.
The construction is based on a reinforced concrete monolith. The rhythmic design of the facades is built on the contrast of large transparent sections of glazing and blank walls, sheathed with vertical boards and wild stone. On the underground floor there are technical rooms and a large swimming pool with two light wells.
On the borders of the site there are two small buildings: a service room with a garage and a security point, a spa complex with a relaxation room and an open terrace, which is oriented towards a nearby pond. The windows of all the bedrooms on the second floor look at it. Wide underground galleries combine all three buildings into a single complex.
The plan of the house with cut corners, rather diamond-shaped, revealed geometry as the pivotal theme of the interior of the "House-Python". Its symbol and embodiment is the fireplace chimney, covered like a stocking with a colored decorative mesh with diamond-shaped cells.
Arseniy Leonovich reports: “They thought to sew it up with metal, wood panels, stone, but everything seemed banal, sluggish. I wanted energy and movement. And the energy beats over the edge in this house. Plastic volumes, a bold style mix of interiors, an exquisite color palette with bright accents and a variety of ornaments correspond to the creative character of home owners who are open to experimentation. It is no coincidence that it is difficult to find typical, ordinary things and objects in the house.
The furniture project of "Python" is a delicate and lengthy work on their selection. The collection was collected not from the catalogs of famous brands, but in galleries and antique shops in European capitals. Some of the pieces of furniture, for example, an L-shaped kitchen island or some lamps, were developed by Arseniy Leonovich and the PANACOM team specifically for this project.
