Almost at the foot of the "House of Infinity", through a narrow strip of beach, the vast expanse of the Atlantic begins, connecting and separating the Old and New Worlds. Therefore, the theme of the plane became defining for the Campo Baeza project.
The new villa is, in fact, a 2-storey platform lined with Roman travertine, a stone pier that meets ships that go out into the ocean through the Strait of Gibraltar or, on the contrary, heading for the Mediterranean Sea.
The surface of the water is opposed by a terrace of ideal geometric shapes - the roof of the house and, at the same time, its main facade. The main entrance is arranged exactly there - in the form of a “trench” -stairs cut into its surface. Three walls protect the terrace from the strong winds that are common on the ocean coast and the views of travelers on the way.
Campo Baeza likens this roof to the temenos, a sacred site of an ancient temple, a meeting place for gods and people. Historical allusions are clear: the Roman settlement of Bolonia (Belo Claudia) was located very close, and the entire Iberian Peninsula was part of the Empire. The choice of stone for facing should also remind of the Romans.
