At the end of June 2015, the finalists of the World Architecture Festival (WAF) award were presented. These include eight projects from Russia, two of which are examples of the reconstruction of public spaces. So, the State Hermitage Museum will fight for the title of the best. In the process of its renovation, it was important to select materials that will ensure the museum's fire safety and a comfortable indoor climate for many years. For the implementation of the project, a non-combustible stone wool insulation from the ROCKWOOL company was chosen - RUF BATTS slabs for the roof.
The Hermitage has become one of the main contenders for the victory in the category "Object of Cultural Significance". The reconstruction of its main headquarters was completed in 2013. Considering the great age of the building, the complexity and historical value of its structures, the authors of the project paid special attention to the selection of insulation materials. Experts sought to find high-quality material that would prevent heat loss through the roof, because according to statistics, they account for up to 20% of all heat losses in a building.
As a result, ROCKWOOL RUF BATTS slabs were chosen for roof insulation. Thanks to the natural stone base, the stone wool fibers can withstand temperatures up to 10000C and in case of an emergency they will become a reliable barrier to the spread of fire. In addition, effective thermal insulation will help ensure a stable indoor temperature both during winter cold and summer heat.
The results of the WAF award will be announced on November 6, 2015, the awards ceremony will take place in Singapore, awards will be presented in 30 nominations. All in all, this year about 750 specialists from 47 countries take part in the Architectural Festival.
