This summer the Archstoyanie festival will celebrate its tenth anniversary not in the usual Nikola-Lenivets, but in the neighboring village of Zvizzhi. Its theme will be the problem of the disappearance of public spaces from the countryside, so that the usual way of life of the Zvizzha will have to radically change for several days, and the decaying buildings of the village will have to transform.
“We started with the village and now we are returning to it, taking a step towards our“neighbors”, ordinary people who have always been here with us. It will be interesting to see collaborations between the villagers and the artists we invited. Nikolay Polissky has been building art objects with local men for many years and even going to exhibitions. At Archstoyania in Zvizzhi we will see what other authors can do,”says Anton Kochurkin.
The festival will take place despite the fact that Archstoyanie was left without a title sponsor in winter (see interviews with curators Anton Kochurkin and Yulia Bychkova). Together with the villagers, the space will be transformed by Nikolai Polissky, Sergei Tchoban, Alexey Kozyr and the Archpoint architectural bureau. ***

The initiator and ideological inspirer of Archstoyanie Nikolai Polissky will create a “lost temple” in the place of an abandoned store in the center of Zvizzhi, the memory of ancient civilizations - a large installation similar to a group of giant translucent termite mounds. A typical concrete store building has not been used for its intended purpose for a long time and is gradually turning into ruins. Now the ruin of his "box" will receive a new shell.
Rural Labor Museum
Sergei Choban and Agniya Sterligova had the task of combining in one project the Zvizzhey entrance sign and the museum, where items of traditional village life will be collected. What happened - a tower, akin to a water tower, has grown on a potato field. Lifeless on the outside, and inhabited on the inside. Belvedere Zvizzhsky
The bus stop seems to be the most inappropriate place for philosophy. However, the architect Aleksey Kozyr remembered Diogenes' calls for the search for the meaning of life and minimalism in everyday life and made a meditative space out of the stop called Belvedere Zvizzhsky.
DK Zvizzhi
The wooden "bird of happiness" inspired the architects of the Archpoint bureau to redesign the entrance to the rural recreation center. The design idea is based on a fan of bird plumage. The wood crafts theme allows you to simultaneously reflect the purpose of the building and ensure its harmony with the village environment.
