Berlin City Palace - in the past, the main winter residence of the Brandenburg margraves and electors, and later of the Prussian kings and German emperors on the Spreeinsel island on the Spree river in the center of Berlin.
After the November Revolution of 1918, the palace was used primarily as a museum. The palace was significantly damaged during the Second World War, but they decided to abandon the plans to restore it, and the ruins were demolished in 1950.
However, not so long ago, a joint decision of the federal and state authorities adopted the project "Humboldtforum" for the construction of a new building in the old place, in the cubic capacity of the old palace, in the proportions of the old palace, with the restoration of its three historical facades. Construction began in 2013.
The restoration of the Berlin City Palace is now in full swing. By 2015, the first stage of the construction of the future complex "Humboldt-Forum" was built. The construction is expected to end in 2019, when the building of the future complex will house museums, a library, laboratories, a cafe and a restaurant with panoramic views.
Although the project involves the reconstruction of a historical monument, in the process it is necessary to use modern materials to insulate the facades. This material is ISOVER, which allows you to restore the historical appearance of the building, and due to its lightness and fire-resistant properties, will provide the facade with durability.
