The type of housing, which can be conventionally called "urban village", is gaining more and more popularity: it is too tempting to get all the benefits of civilization and the comfort of city life, without moving away from nature. The Rasu Namai complex is located in the metropolitan area of Rasos, in a quiet, secluded location on the edge of Pavilnisi Regional Park, and covers an area of 7219 m2. The plot for construction was not very convenient: it is located on a slope and stretches along the street dividing it into two parts. In addition, there are four former ammunition depots that needed to be preserved.
The architects placed small houses logically - their total area is 2890 m2 - on both sides of the street. The eight higher up the slope are joined in twos and have an open staircase in the middle. They are raised on thin supports so that they literally "hang" over the walls of historic warehouses. Thus, it was possible not only to preserve access to architectural monuments, but also to "substitute" the windows under the sun's rays, because the houses stand among tall trees with dense crowns.
Ten more separate buildings stand at the bottom of the site. They, on the contrary, are recessed, so that from the side of the street they look like one-story, and only from the end or from the side of the ravine one more tier becomes visible. All houses are clad in planks to create the necessary rustic feel, but the texture of the wood varies to provide visual variety. The image is completed by the usual pitched roofs, in some places even with dormers, and rather large areas of glazing, which are responsible for the connection of residential interiors with the surrounding natural landscape.
