VELUX joined the Kindness Marathon, in which members of the National Roofing Union helped a specialized orphanage # 3 in St. Petersburg. Children received an updated pavilion for outdoor games.
Orphanage No. 3 was opened for children orphaned during the siege in Leningrad in 1943 in a small building on Marata Street. Now, in peacetime, the Children's Home is located in a comfortable building on Zagreb Boulevard and occupies a vast territory. In 2004, he was recognized as the most comfortable among all healthcare institutions in St. Petersburg. However … he had a small problem, which was quite within the power of the members of the National Roofing Union.
The fact is that in addition to the main building, there is a pavilion for outdoor games at the disposal of children and staff, and here it is, or rather, its roof, demanded close attention. According to the apt expression of an expert who visited this object before the reconstruction - "its current state is literally the current one!" Multiple leaks made the pavilion unusable, and for infants this is the only opportunity to spend time outdoors. The metal roof, built two decades ago in violation of technology, fell into disrepair, in the rain, water flowed along the walls of the room, and it was damp inside.
Members of the National Roofing Union completely renovated and refurbished the roof of the pavilion. Only the rafters were left from the old roof, the crate was partially replaced, the roofing was renewed and VELUX skylights were added to further illuminate the pavilion and allow ventilation in hot weather.
The metal for the standing seam roofing SSAB was provided by the Ruukki Express company, the roof windows - by VELUX, and the actual roofing works were undertaken by the contracting companies Altes, StroyExpert-VITU, Roofers Guild, SK RRK. To help roofing companies to optimize their work processes, modern high-tech equipment was provided - sheet bending machines "MetalMaster".
