The new building is the third building for a company historically associated with ports and the sea: Gebr. Heinemann was founded in the 19th century as a supply company for ships and their crews. Today this company is one of the largest owners of Duty Free shops in airports in the world, in addition, as a distributor, it supplies goods to more than 1000 customers in 100 countries around the world.
The new building is connected with the ensemble of the headquarters of the XIX-XXI centuries by a glazed passage. It echoes its brick and glass surfaces with a pronounced verticalism, including the ground-level openings characteristic of historic warehouses (such a warehouse is also part of the company complex). Roofs-terraces correspond to the levels of the eaves of the adjacent buildings.
The first, glazed tier contains the lobby, the company's museum and shops, and above there are eight floors of offices (free plan and with cells), organized around the central core. There is a two-level garage underground. One of the outer walls of the building is also the wall of the Fleet Canal, above which the new building rises 42 meters.
