The building appeared in a block of new buildings on the territory of the port, more precisely - a naval shipyard, so called - Navy Yard. It sits on the edge of a regular plan designed by Robert Stern and a circular park designed by Field Operations. The BIG construction responds to the context with a double curvature of the "park" facade: the resulting silhouette also resembles the hull of a ship, which is more than appropriate.
Marine metaphors are continued by the "periscope" - an atrium-light well that reflects into the building the views of ships docked in nearby docks.
The facades of the building are made of prefabricated concrete panels that are folded into a wicker pattern. Total area 1200 Intrepid - 9250 m2.
