The Bee Breeders idea competition, announced in July, was tasked with developing projects for pit stops, or tourist centers, at Trans-Siberian railway stations in large and interesting cities. In such centers, travelers could get help information, learn about the sights of the city, get acquainted with its culture and history. The pit stop project had to be made universal, replicable, and resistant to any weather conditions. Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk were among the proposed cities for the placement of such objects. The organizers note that they received a large number of interesting ideas, and prizes were taken by projects that most closely meet the task.
We present three projects marked with prizes.
First place
Trans Siberian Retreat
Omid Kamvari, Masoud Saeedian, Amir Armani Asl, Faraneh Ghahremani, Faramarz Ensafi / Kamvari Architects
This project combines traditional architecture with the dynamism of a railway. The jury members considered that such a tourist center would become not just an adornment of major Russian railway stations, but also an independent attraction. In addition, the building is well adapted to the continental climate: the base is raised above the ground, which makes it easier to maintain the desired temperature both in winter and in summer.
*** Second place
Trans Siberian Pit Stops
Jacopo Abbate, Martina Mitrovic
The building in the form of a forest hut has every chance to be remembered by travelers and leave a pleasant impression. In the center of the "hut" there is a fireplace, a source of light and heat. The cozy atmosphere is conducive to relaxation and communication with new people.
*** Third place
Anamorphosis (Anamorphosis)
Alessandro Carrea, Djavan Cardona / Godfathers
Thanks to the mirrored facade, this pavilion will look different in every city. From the inside, visitors have a panoramic view of the surroundings.
