Maslenitsa will be celebrated on February 25 in Nikola-Lenivets. The artist Nikolai Polissky is preparing a new art object especially for this event. The construction has been carried out for three months by the artel of the Nikola-Lenivets crafts. The fire sculpture itself will not last long - it will appear and disappear in front of the guests of the art park during the holiday.
Polissky's Shrovetide was conceived specifically for burning. A pipe of rapidly burning materials is formed in the center of the structure, and hay rolls will serve as the outer shell, which will allow you to set the desired direction of air and prevent the fire from going to the side. The structure should also crumble down - as safe as possible for the audience.
The materials used would not be useful anywhere else. These are thin-barreled timber, substandard hay and discarded pallets. The object is about 20 meters in diameter, as high as a five-storey building.
Shrovetide in this way in the art park has been celebrated for more than 10 years, for which Nikola-Lenivets was nicknamed Russian
Burning Man. This year the holiday will open with a series of events united by the common theme “How to live”.
Below is a photo from Shrovetide of past years.
