At the end of March this year, AHML and KB Strelka announced a competition for the development of design concepts for key public spaces in 15 Russian cities. The finalists were chosen by experts, and the winners - by residents of each city at a public hearing. The results were announced on May 15, in Saratov, at the Wednesday for Life forum. Only the winner for Tomsk has not yet been named: there the discussion will take place within a month.
It is planned to start the implementation of the selected concepts in the near future, after their revision, taking into account the comments of the city authorities and local expert communities. The prize fund - 12 million rubles - will be distributed among the participants who won prizes.
Below are the winning projects for five cities. We will talk about the rest in the following materials.
Astrakhan, Arcadia park
Architecture and design studio Semenov Studio
The architects proposed a detailed plan for landscaping, lighting and general landscaping of the park. There will be places for recreation, bicycle parking, drinking fountains, information boards and other infrastructure elements. Functionally, the territory is divided into several zones: a zone for holding events and celebrations of various sizes, a sports zone, a quiet zone for meetings and communication. There is a separate area for children's fairs and festivals.
Vladikavkaz, a section of the Terek river embankment
Creative group SOLID STUDIO
Authors comment:
“Today the park is abandoned and unattractive. Our goal was to bring more activity and variety to it. To stimulate tourism, the terms of reference proposed to organize a circular route in Vladikavkaz - in our project this idea was strengthened by restoring the old tram line. From the embankment to the Vladikavkaz ridge, a new cycling route with a length of about 30-40 km can be laid - this is what concerns sports. A huge part of our project is dedicated to national identity: characteristic patterns are used both in paving and in details."
Vladimir, Devicheskaya street
Kirill Tikhonov
Author's comment:
“The space of Devicheskaya Street turns into a pedestrian space and is conventionally divided into three zones: active, transit and quiet. The combination of the zones creates a multifunctional urban center that meets the interests and needs of citizens in organizing city events and everyday life."
Volgograd, streets with Tsaritsyn buildings
Modul Architectural Bureau
Authors comment:
“The project for the development of neighborhoods with historical buildings in Volgograd is based on the interweaving of two spatial frames inside courtyards that fill the voids of the city fabric. they are equal and independent, but they have common ground. The prototype of the concept is a DNA spiral, which carries information codes of the city's genetic memory.
The public frame is a chain of 12 spaces, expressing the renewed environment of the Preobrazhensky suburb of Tsaritsyn. The terracotta structure unites the historical buildings into a single whole. The architecture is solved in the form of minimal intervention.
The second structure is a network of private courtyard spaces for residents, arranged like an urban farm. from the list of acceptable elements in the form of playgrounds, flower beds, vegetable gardens and greenhouses, they themselves form their comfortable environment, express themselves and their initiatives."
Izhevsk, the embankment of the architect Dudin
LLC NPO "Vector"
The concept is based on the idea of "Spark of Life" (IZH), which connects together everything that the city lives with. The architects evenly distributed the “sparks” of Izhevsk's identity over the competition site. The automotive industry, metallurgy and the production of small arms developed here are reflected in the art objects and improvement elements. For recreation of the townspeople, there is a beach area, opportunities for recreation on the water and sports, a cafe, a dance floor and the main square for events.
