The museum was named "Tirpitz" - after the adjacent defensive zone, built by the Germans as part of the "Atlantic Wall" to prevent the allies from landing. Here at Blovann Beach, the guns were supposed to defend the nearby port of Esbjerg. In one of the two bunkers built at that time, an exposition was opened in 1991, but now a real museum center has joined it.

BIG deliberately created a contrast to the powerful concrete block of the bunker: the new museum is hidden underground, and visitors enter through the "cuts" in the dunes, which are actually the inner courtyard of the underground museum, the glass walls of which provide the interior with daylight. The cantilever roofs of the four parts of the structure are planted with sandy spikelets, which completes the merging of the museum with the landschat. The roof overhangs reach 36 m and weigh more than 1,000 tons, and were designed by Swiss engineers Lüchinger + Meyer. The main part of the museum is made of monolithic concrete; steel and wood are widely used in the interior.

The four parts of the museum correspond to the arrangement of the exposition, which was created by the Dutch Tinker Imagineers. One quarter is given for temporary exhibitions, the other three houses the "Concrete Army", which tells about the creation of the Cyclopean fortifications of the "Atlantic Wall" and the life of soldiers and civilians on the west coast of Denmark during the war, "Gold of the West Bank" - the most detailed in Western Europe an exhibition about amber, and "Stories of the West Bank" - about events that have taken place in this area over the past 100,000 years.

From the museum, by an underground passage, you can get to the historical bunker, which remained unfinished (the 380-mm gun from the French battleship was never installed there). It is proposed to inspect it in the dark, using a flashlight and an audio guide.
