Located in the center of the 12 millionth city in southern China, the headquarters of the state-owned company Shenzhen Energy consists of two towers - 220 and 120 meters high, respectively.
Given the humid and hot climate of Shenzhen, it was an important task for the architects to protect the interiors from the heat of the sun. The exit was a "folded" facade, where transparent glass panels are placed at an angle and therefore reflect the rays, at the same time providing the "users" of the building with views of the metropolis. The most dangerous areas are protected by impermeable panels. The northern facade, which is least susceptible to overheating, is therefore made the most open.
The appearance of the towers is enlivened by "slits", reminiscent of blinds spread apart by hand. In these sections of the facades, where the panorama of the city is especially spectacular, there are meeting rooms, club rooms for management, etc. Likewise, the façade opens at ground level to form the entrances to the rented commercial compartments. The main entrance - for the Shenzhen Energy employees who got the upper floors with views, and the companies renting offices on the lower tiers - is marked outside by a plaza.
