We are talking about the Educational Center of the Faroe Islands on the outskirts of the capital of this territory, the city of Torshavn. The 19,200 m2 building will house the Torshavn Technical College and the Faroe Islands Business College and Gymnasium. The building is designed for a total of 1200 students and 300 teachers. It will be located on a hillside at an altitude of 100 m above sea level. The project is based on the motive of the whirlpool, but, unlike its prototype, it involves simultaneous movement in two directions: outward, towards the natural environment, and inward, towards the circular courtyard located in the center of the structure.
Each of the three educational institutions that will be installed in the new building will be able to operate independently in the area allocated to it, taking into account potential future expansion. At the same time, the idea of a "vertical campus" with a common atrium in the center implies a certain level of communication and cooperation between students and teachers of different "schools" - both in the educational and informal spheres.
