A competition for an idea for the renovation of an old railway bridge over the Pregolya River, built in the 1860s, was announced in Kaliningrad in early March. The initiator was the Museum of the World Ocean - today the bridge is located on its territory. The goal of the competition was to identify possible options for transforming an obsolete structure into a qualitatively new museum bridge, which would simultaneously serve as a historical monument-exhibit, a communication facility for pedestrians and a recreational facility.
Practicing architects and students were invited to participate. In total, the organizers received 70 works, and another project came later than the specified date. After examining and discussing the sketches received, the jury could not determine a clear leader. Therefore, it was decided to compose the top 10 works, and divide the prize fund of 300,000 rubles equally between the authors of the three best projects.
The full catalog of the competition works can be found on the museum's website, and we publish the top ten - according to the jury.
