Knowing your fund for museum staff is, in general, the norm, and there are many wonderful people who know and research their funds very well. In principle, every researcher, I think, has something to talk about with every guardian. But Maria Georgievna Rogozina was even among them some kind of exception, since she was not just a keeper and connoisseur, but the soul of the photo library fund and her active presence turned the department into something else - into a place of lively and interested conversations about any monuments of any architecture - but before of all, of course, Russian and Moscow - and in general in the semblance of a consulting center. Moreover, it was for everyone: any visitor, regardless of degree and education, could count on qualified advice here. Hence the stories similar to the one told now on the museum's website - about the "newsreel of the Kulikovo battle." Maria Georgievna could be called from some Yaroslavl parish, and she would tell the priest if there was anything in her fund about his church, and, as a rule, there was. Almost all museums now have photo libraries - Moire, or the GNIMA photo library, this is a kind of soul of the museum, and Maria Rogozina was the soul of the photo library. It is not surprising that when David Sargsyan, being the director of the museum, came up with a series of personal projects dedicated to the staff of the museum, he was inspired by the personality of Maria Rogozina and the first “year of the employee” was dedicated to her; there were no more such projects, it remained one of a kind.

This year celebrated the 45th anniversary of Maria Georgievna's work in the museum, where she came immediately after the Department of the History of Art at Moscow State University; On June 27, she opened her last exhibition - about Silvio Danini, the court architect of Nicholas II, and prepared another one for the second half of the year. In May, she was full of energy and completely busy with work.

Maria Georgievna knew her fund by heart, but she knew perfectly well the monuments, both existing and demolished; attributed "by eye" instantly and accurately. Published books and catalogs, like this one. She participated in the compilation of the 13-volume catalog "Orthodox Moscow", where the churches are placed on the holidays of the main thrones. She wrote articles for the collections of the Society for the Study of the Russian Estate and constantly participated in trips organized by the society. Museum work can be anonymous in its own way, I can't even give here a complete list of exhibitions curated by Maria Rogozina, although it feels like there are a lot of them; she met five directors of the museum, starting with Viktor Baldin. But the main thing in her work, in addition to the broadest erudition, was still a willingness to respond vividly to almost any question in her specialty. Bright memory.

The funeral service will take place on September 1, Saturday, at 11:30 in the Church of St. Nicholas in Tolmachi.
