The bus stop project was intended for a competition held by the Art-Ovrag festival earlier this year. The project of AB "Druzhba" won the competition and was implemented - a set of structures in red, when moving past the words that form the words ART OVRAG.
Meanwhile, the architects of the Megabudka bureau see in their project something more than just a version of a competitive proposal. “We have been doing a large architectural project for quite a long time, within the framework of which we are working very closely on the issue of Russianness,” says Kirill Gubernatorov. - In parallel with us, other projects appeared, where we used developments in Russian. This object [stop] was tested on the identifier and scored almost the maximum number of points. That is why we write that this is really modern Russian architecture."
The determinant of the Russianness of design is a program, an algorithm for which was developed last summer at Arkhparokhod. In the spring of 2018, Megabudka turned it into a web program. The bottom line is that the user himself switches a number of drawn levers on the screen, such as: soulfulness, decorativeness, ingenuity, etc., determining for himself how this or that design object fits the definition. After switching the levers for a while, you begin to understand that the largest button - "kolobok" - has a decisive weight in making a decision about "Russianness". According to the author's decoding, kolobokism is escapism, mystery, escapism. I would translate this concept as glitchiness, but I am sure that the authors will disagree with me. Escapism is so escapism. So, if this button is pressed, the object is almost guaranteed to be "Russian".
The subjectivity of this assessment mechanism is quite obvious, moreover, I would venture to suggest that the project itself is comic, although it probably has some creative potential both for working on projects with an identical Russian design, and for the moral rest of the authors after immersion in such work. …
Returning to the project of the stop: “This is more of an art object, a statement; therefore, such a stop should not be replicated many times,” explains Kirill Gubernatorov. - For this stop, the choice of place is important: it should be in the field, opposite the "abandonment" or the miss. This is a deliberate reference to the unique stops created during the Soviet era, which usually now stand in these places, are used as a toilet and are gradually deteriorating."
