The guest house in Nizhny Novgorod, nicknamed "Battleship Rodion" for its ribbed structure and variegated brickwork resembling scales, was built for the World Cup. Rodionov Street, on which he is located, is made up of a wide variety of buildings: from low-rise apartment buildings and artsy cottages to dilapidated wooden shacks and the latest unauthorized construction. The architecture of the "battleship" to some extent reacts to this context, because, according to the head of the bureau Zoya Ryurikova, "is based on individual sensations of the Nizhny Novgorod style", and the form was born "at the junction of parametricism and dacha regional naive".
From parametricism here is a complex structure, which is not so easy to understand on the fly. One half of the house is an understandable rectangular volume with a pitched roof, the other is like a distorted reflection in rippled water. Above - the multiplied motive of the forceps, below - volumes of different heights and configurations, which "slide out" from each other like the corrugation of an old camera. At the end there is a "lens", the smallest and most transparent volume-house.
From the dacha naive - probably the stylization of all kinds of outbuildings, large stained-glass windows that look like glazed verandas, a secluded attic floor, the feeling that inside there is, if not a stove, then a fireplace. FROM
from other angles, where the house looks into the windows of its neighbors, it looks more brutal due to the more extensive "blind" planes, but here there are also "special effects" like a round window that looks like a clock of either a basilica or a factory.
Glazing plays a key role in the composition of the house. In the attic floor, VELUX OPTIMA Comfort GLR MR10 windows measuring 780 * 1600 mm are used - they can be installed on the roof even with such a large angle of inclination as in the "battleship". Velux windows look harmoniously against the background of tiles and colorful brickwork both outside and inside the building. Interiors with elements of the "loft" style also play on dacha romance - the premises of the upper floors resemble the dachas of artists or sculptors, where there is a lot of light, books and secluded places for reading.
