The village of Kubenskoye is located just north of Vologda, on the way to Ferapontov and Kirillo-Belozersky monasteries, on the shore of the lake, along which you can also swim to the outlandish island monastery - Spaso-Kamenny. The village is older than Vologda itself, once there was a stop on the way from the Varangians to the Greeks, Peter I looked closely at it, as a possible place for building a fleet, was famous for lace, fish and taverns. In a word, there is a great tourism potential. Which, unfortunately, is not used in any way: houses with a history are dilapidated, hotels, cafes or at least a pier that could serve as an excuse to turn off the highway - no, the population drinks. At the same time, in a fairly large village there is a house of culture and a museum of local lore, several churches, and the Kubensky Torzhok fair is held every year.
By order of the administration of the Vologda district, TO "Dmitrovka" prepared a development concept for the village: emotional, since the architects are familiar with the place and root for it, flexible, based on local flavor and traditions. At the same time, the architects make the village not so much a tourist, but simply pleasant for life: they offer residents places for work, leisure, and communication.
According to the concept, the restoration of the historical part is accompanied by the emergence of new objects, "vectors of development": shopping malls, a yacht club with a sports school and a cultural center. All new buildings are similar: they are lightweight timber structures that can adapt to seasonal changes - becoming smaller or larger, more open or closed. Pitched roofs, structures and slatted ornaments pay tribute to the local culture without turning it into a tourist "cranberry".
The malls offer products from local farmers all year round. On the ground floor there are shopping modules, in the gallery there is an area with a cafe, where they cook from the same local products. The rows are proposed to be placed at the entrance to the village, and a little in the depths to disperse bright red pavilions with a lace pattern, which will replace the current stalls.
Also, a cultural center will appear in the center of the village, for which two options have been developed: the second is slightly larger and, in addition to a library, a cinema and circle clubs, includes an exhibition hall. All technical rooms are located on the mezzanine floor. The Russian north is harsh, so the building is protected from cold weather and vandals by shutters, they also help to transform the facade from time to time.
The yacht club resembles a "tick" in shape and opens with panoramic windows, however, also protected by shutters, to Lake Kubenskoye. The two parts of the building are united by a pitched roof, which also forms a porch and a narrow gallery. Two wings are full of functions: there can be classrooms, a gym, a swimming pool, a cafe. Together with the cultural center, the yacht club could not only significantly diversify the life of the villagers, but also attract guests from Vologda and the surrounding villages.
The concept of "Dmitrovka" appears to be soft, but effective and universal - it, with amendments, can be extended to other places like Kubensky. We suspect that there are a huge number of them in our country.
