Accommodation by the Giardini Park in Venice
Source: startfortalents.net Contestants are invited to design housing in the immediate vicinity of the Giardini Park, which hosts the famous Biennale, one of the world's premier art and architecture exhibitions. This place is the cultural center of Venice, therefore projects should include not only the apartments themselves, but also exhibition spaces, a restaurant, a bookstore and other functional areas. The task is to harmoniously integrate a modern building into the architectural environment of the historic district.

Tokyo: Faith Triumph
Japan's population is rapidly declining. The authorities are trying to compensate for the demographic crisis at the expense of foreign workers. However, migrants along with their suitcases "bring" foreign beliefs to the mono-national country. How will the demographic shift affect the local cult architecture, which is already being influenced by globalization? The organizers invite the participants to come up with a building that symbolizes the "triumph of faith". One of the artificial islands of Tokyo, made of waste, was chosen as the site for its construction.

Shanghai: Linguateca
After the end of World War II, English began its expansion and gradually gained the status of the language of international communication. Now almost everything we deal with and what we see is broadcast in English. At the same time, scientists expect that by the end of the century, about half of the 7,000 currently living languages will disappear. Can architecture stop the threat to typification and uniformity and save this part of cultural identity? The organizers of the competition chose Shanghai, a multicultural city with a population of over 24 million people, as the venue for the experiment. It is here that Lingvateka will appear - a stronghold for those who want to learn about their roots and hide from the threat of globalization.

Los Angeles: the world's entertainment hub
Modern trends in the entertainment industry are closely related to the transformation of society. Stadiums have become witnesses of the evolution of mankind and the change of cultures. What used to be a gladiatorial battleground or a cricket field has now become a sports and concert venue. As consumers' tastes and needs become more similar, more and more the same stadiums emerge - even if they belong to different regions and cultures. The organizers of the competition invite participants to think about: what could be a global entertainment center in the world of a sophisticated audience and inexhaustible thirst for new things? The facility is planned to be built on the site of a former oil field in Los Angeles, an amazing city that risks dissolving its identity in skyscrapers.

CTBUH 2019 international student competition
The aim of the competition is to form a new look at the meaning and value of high-rise buildings in modern society.
The era of skyscrapers as "sculptural works", standing in isolation from the environment, is coming to an end. Now high-rise buildings must respond to the most serious problems of the present time: the growth of the world's population, massive urbanization, climate change, environmental degradation.
The organizers of the competition invite the contestants to submit their skyscraper project. The site for design can be chosen independently, anywhere in the world, but it must be real. Height, dimensions, purpose also remain at the discretion of the participants. The project needs to reflect the context and be sure to take into account the CTBUH criteria for defining high-rise buildings.

International Building Design Competition 2019
The theme of this year's competition is “A light touch to our Earth”. Participants must submit a project for an office environmentally sustainable complex. Coney Island (Pulau Serangun), Singapore, where there is a large park, was chosen as the place for its placement. Teams of 3 to 8 people are allowed to participate in the competition, which can only include full-time students. The team must include specialists in architecture, engineering and construction.

James Dyson Award 2019
The James Dyson Award is an international engineering and industrial design award that celebrates the achievements of a new generation of design engineers and encourages and inspires them to find new solutions. “Design is what solves the problem” - this is how the organizers of the award explain the problem to the participants. Special attention is paid to projects that use simple engineering principles and sustainable design. In addition to the technical viability, the commercial dimension of the project is also important. The citizenship of the participants does not matter, but applications are accepted from students (current or former) universities in 27 countries of the world - including Russia.
