A three-star hotel with 350 rooms is planned to be built on the southern outskirts of the city, not far from the Prospekt Veteranov metro station. The place is pleasant: the green bank of the Novaya River, opposite - a temple under construction. There is a residential development across the river and the avenue, and the future hotel itself will be located in the same block as the Tallinsky department store and a sports and fitness center. They form a spot of public functions among the sleeping microdistrict, which the hotel is designed to develop and complement to the best of its ability, since retail space, a fitness room and a cafe are planned on its ground floors.

The site is quite convenient, in terms of it is close to a square, a small part of which is a water protection zone. But it is located almost on the very bank of the river, which allowed the architects to offer, in addition to the hotel project, a draft design for the improvement of the coastal zone - green slopes, descents to the water, new trees and paving instead of the existing lawn with a single row of trees. The task of the new square is to arrange a place for walking for hotel visitors and at the same time to attract local residents to the area of cafes and shops, to help develop business in a separate, relatively small, area.

Along the perimeter of the territory, the authors place a passage, the rectangle of the main part is occupied by a stylobate on one tier of the underground parking, from which, in turn, two plates of the hotel itself grow, united by a common communication core, but shifted one relative to the other: one closer to the river, the other further, in plan it looks like a very stylized zigzag of lightning.

The volume receives plastic from this technique, the ability to lighten the mass by the method of separation - and, on the other hand, responds to the context: Soviet pink brick houses along the bend of Stachek Avenue are built here with a long "saw" and a step in the hotel's volumes interprets this technique, enters into a dialogue with surroundings.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the project is the stylobate. Firstly, it, to some extent interpreting the modern classics of David Chipperfield, unites the two lower tiers from the side of the shopping center with a high - about 9 meters, slender and airy gallery. On this side of both tiers of the hotel there are cafes and shops, so the presence of a gallery is functionally justified. In general, if you close your eyes to the unassuming appearance of the neighboring Tallinsky department store, a city trade square appears here, and the height of the covered promenade and the delicate proportions of the pylon add impressiveness and set the tone, as if encouraging the environment to stretch out.

The facades of the stylobate proper continue the theme set by the gallery: they are lined with a grid of light supports and ceilings, which naturally “holds” large glazing planes, interpreting the volume of the base as a thin-boned and light frame. It turns out that the building is not alien to the floating effect, but at the same time it stands firmly on its feet. However, what is more curious is that the stylobate, which is generally rectangular, receives several branches, which makes it asymmetrical and the composition not boring. These "prominences", in contrast to the main structure and the gallery, are denser, with narrow slots and wide pylons.

From the side of the river, the main entrance is located and a visor-frame protrudes far here, providing protection from the rain for taxis with guests (since the height is 9 m, a double-decker bus will also pass freely here). A ledge in the northern part, at the end of the hotel, provides a passage, a storey tier is located above it. But the southern protrusion above the passage, at the end facing the avenue, bears part of the hotel plate - the volumes, thus, not that they grow out of the base block predictably - it is more and more complicated, the theme of a zigzag shift is developing, the building behaves in space enough free, which adds both dynamics and interest. To some extent, all galleries and ledges, despite their strict geometrism on the verge of sterility, are similar to the roots of a building - a kind of legs of a tropical tree. One way or another, they are actively shaping the space at the level of human perception, building around the hotel a sense of the mastered urban space.

The roof of the stylobate is proposed to be landscaped and actively used: this is a way not only to obtain additional areas and a point of attraction, but also to improve the species characteristics of those rooms that do not overlook the river. Additional evacuation exits are also located here.

The facade is subordinated to the same thin faceting as the stylobate, but here the system is revived by the diagonals of a checkerboard pattern: following it, a pair of glazed loggias and recesses with yellow slopes alternate, which, thanks to ceramics, brass and illumination, shine with a warm light, resembling either blotches of precious stones, either the light of the fireplaces, or the cuts of the rock, inside of which there is copper or even gold. A curious and very cozy welcome - it clearly shows that we are facing a place where you can warm up and relax, working with the effect of a warm window in the evening city and other signs of home and peace. In part, the effect persists during the day - in general, the entire building is penetrated with yellowish inserts, they are also present in the stylobate.

And chess geometry, it must be admitted, is becoming characteristic of Anatoly Stolyarchuk - a similar solution was used in the house on Prilukskaya Street and in the Multifunctional Complex on Sofiyskaya.

The height of the towers is the maximum permissible on this site 55 meters, which is just below the residential building on Veteranov Avenue, located opposite the future hotel. Anatoly Stolyarchuk admits that the project could be improved by making the towers different in height. But for this it was required either to sacrifice square meters, or go to a lengthy approval procedure.

The project turned out to be calm and elegant - these are the words most often used by experts of the city planning council when discussing the tablets of Anatoly Stolyarchuk's workshop. The new building is consistent with the surroundings in terms of height, functions and even methods of volumetric construction, honestly observes all norms and demonstrates a verified facade design, not devoid of emotion. The grafting of new architecture to the dormitory area is painless, but effective: the building sets a new approach and structure, after its appearance it will hardly be possible to build the area in the likeness of Tallinsky.
