The architecture competition for the best convention center design for the city of Calabar, located on the southwest coast of Africa, was initiated by the Cross River State Government. International events have been held in Calabar quite often lately, so a world-class building is a must in the city. By building the new center, local authorities support not only the conference industry, but also hope to attract more tourists to the city by modernizing it. The multifunctional building will also open its doors to the townspeople - concerts, film festivals and exhibitions will be held here.

The future conference center will be built on the top of the hill. This location is ideal as a viewing platform. From the hall of the building there will be a view of the Calabar River Delta. If you look at the building from the city, then the four light volumes that make up the new center will be clearly visible from afar. The conference center will complete a natural amphitheater for several thousand people.

“Today Nigeria is developing rapidly and we, the architects invited to support this development, have a special challenge: to look at architecture as something more than geometry. Architecture contributes to the modernization of society”, - comment on their victory in the competition Danish architects.
