Recall that the SANAA workshop won in this international competition, but the OMA variant posed serious competition to Japanese architects. According to Rem Koolhaas's idea, the new campus with the School of Management, which should appear next to the existing one, should become a "stage for the Homo Economicus". This is a complex composition of two groups of volumes with a developed program. The key role there is assigned to the public space connecting all objects, closely connected with the city quarters surrounding the university.
A public "road" has been laid through the old campus, connecting it with the new territory. It connects the dining room, study and leisure spaces, and forms the entrance to the sports complex. It unites two parts of the new campus: a "theater" of educational buildings and a dormitory of two buildings with an A-shaped silhouette. The public space / square between them will be shaded by many metal "umbrellas".
A special place is taken by the pool hidden under the ground, which looks like a green hill from the outside, suitable for outdoor events. A sports complex with its flat roof plays a similar role.
Educational buildings ("theater") are raised above the ground to give more space to public space. A "cascade" of open platforms - areas for joint study - descends from the top, from the lecture halls, to the level of the square, where the two main auditoriums and a large lobby are located. The rest of the floors are occupied by seminar rooms and teachers' offices.
Student and faculty dormitories are linked to the Recreation / Sports Center and separate from the rest of the campus. The center is not limited to the buildings of the pool and the sports complex, its premises are scattered across all floors of the hostel, mixing there with common areas.
