The anniversary became an important intrigue - it was because of him that the festival, which last year was moved by curators Andrei and Nikita Asadov to the not yet fully reconstructed, and therefore the dusty, but romantic space of the Trekhgornaya Manufactory, again moved to Gostiny Dvor - not so pretentious, of course Manege, but not much more modest. However, “Zodchestvo” has already been carried out in it, the place is familiar.

This time, the Asadov brothers have partitioned off the space under the famous glass roof of Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, turning it into a kind of labyrinthine box. After all, as you know, the main problem of the festival's exposition is the abundance of multidirectional, sometimes just barely coexisting with a number of stands: non-commercial projects, exhibitions of applicants for "Crystal Daedalus", stands of regions and manufacturers. All this is a rather explosive mixture, and the curators, by their own admission, have organized the exhibition in circles this year. Outside, outside the walls - non-commercial projects, they got more space; Inside the walls, two impressive corridors were formed - there are mainly tablets, both of the main competition and neighboring, student ones, or, for example, one long run is occupied by the exhibition of interiors that first appeared at Zodchestvo. Deeper, inside, there was a place for the regions of the Russian Federation and manufacturers of materials; moreover, they form a kind of axis, starting from the entrance with the traditionally main Moscow, Moscow region and St. Petersburg, and ending closer to the amphitheater with the motley elliptical enclosure of Tatarstan; critic Maria Fadeeva spoke of him as the most creative at the festival … The stand is indeed atypical for a republican or regional exhibition: neither an ordinary luminous model, nor even a table with a consultant. Inside the oval, you can safely walk, looking at small, however, photographs.

To the right of the main "box" of the incoming person meets the exposition of the Archi.ru project "Standard of Quality"; curator - Elena Petukhova, with the support of the SMA. In my opinion, the exhibition turned out well. Not only because the only one of all directly and rather meticulously reveals the theme of the festival - in different forms, verbal and plastic, reflecting on the problems of quality in architecture - a thing that is elusive, difficult or generally indefinable. But so urgent that all architects constantly talk about quality: starting from understandable construction, everyone here starts to quietly, and sometimes moan loudly, and soon they conclude that there is nothing to talk about, it either exists, or, and it is a pity that more often not. And ending with the subtle quality of ideas, concepts, design.

The exhibition is spatially active, in addition to interviews, it consists of very diverse, sometimes large and spectacular objects of fifteen architects. My favorites, perhaps, are the sound installation by Levon Airapetov and Valeria Preobrazhenskaya, postulating the indefinability of the quality category, the winged shed of Natalya Voinova and Ilya Mukosey, and also the predictable, but ideal marble ball donated by Andrey Savin to Vladimir Plotkin. Presumably, it also denotes an act of (symbolic?) Transfer of a stereometric ideal from one architect to another. Exposure begins from this "point". However, all objects that are quite diverse in composition are interesting: two bricks, old and new, from AB Asadov, the contours of the unpredictable wire shape of the bureau of Vera Butko and Anton Nadtochy, a drawing by Lebeus Woods from the collection of Sergei Tchoban … The exhibition is closed by a red cube with a miniature luminous model of the pool in Luzhniki UNK Project. We plan to tell you more about all the exhibits.

Nearby is an exhibition of the Ideal City project, an intensively developing study of a rather abstract, albeit bright and promising topic. The Signs of Cities project, tirelessly collecting successful development practices across the country, shows 62 shortlisted nominees (the winners will be announced after Zodchestvo at the end of October). triangular stands a variegated set of promising, more or less educational, practices. For example, the children's architectural club Horses on the Balcony - their installation from cardboard boxes helped the Project Russia magazine exposition dedicated to skyscrapers to comprehend the exhibition space and the city space between the high-rise towers. Nearby, that is, on the opposite side of the large box of Zodchestvo, is another exhibition about skyscrapers - Ilya Zalivukhin; it contains a small sketch of a skyscraper for Moscow from William Alsop himself. That's all - if you walk around.

If we walk in a straight line inside, then on the right we will be greeted by the exposition of the Moskomarchitecture - light, resolved - the idea was suggested by Anatoly Belov - in the form of a "criminal investigation": a lot of notes and photographs connected with characteristic colored threads are pinned onto cork stands, like in a movie. Five iconic Moscow projects are being investigated: ZIL, Luzhniki, Zaryadye, Triumfalnaya Square, and - object-not-object, rather a plot - renovation of house-building factories. Each theme is illustrated by an artifact: Triumphal - a tree with red berries, ZIL - glazed LSR bricks.

Petersburg has fenced off a similar gray-black labyrinth inside the structure, a smaller one. Several recent projects are presented here, in particular the competition-study of the "gray belt", but the leader is definitely the project "Glorax Golden City" of the consortium KCAP Holding B. V. & Orange Architects and Sergey Oreshkin's A. Len bureau.

However, the curators managed to arrange everything in such a way that tablets are still in the lead in the volume of the exhibition. One has to get used to their abundance and density of the information presented - but the visitors of Zodchestvo have known for a long time that they will not be particularly entertained here. Now there are a lot of additional series of tablets, it is difficult even to isolate the composition of the review competition. Here's a hint: the projects that did not qualify for the main laureates were located on the inside of the outer wall on the right. The educational project of the MARCHI group by Andrey Nekrasov is especially good here, dedicated to the reconstruction of the Kaliningrad region of Altstadt within the framework of Nikita Yavein's concept that won the competition. AND

the concept was beautiful, and the student proposals, mainly for the embedding of glass half-timbered houses between the spikes of the burgher facades, were charming and bolstered by a large layout.

An attempt to assess the section of Russian architecture in terms of the composition of the review competition is deliberately failed; not all are participating and, as always, not so many Muscovites. Sergey Skuratov and Sergey Oreshkin participate in the exposition of the festival with their bureau's stands, but did not submit projects for the competition. But last year's gold winner Erik Valeev is taking part in the competition - with a project for a breeding and genetic center in the city of Oryol. Oleg Romanov - in the project for the reconstruction of the Kronstadt fort. Or, say, among the laureates are Rustam Kerimov with the project of a large villa, Artem Nagavitsyn with the competition project of the Rosatom pavilion, which is already quite old.

Nikita Yavein, who last year received a gold diploma at Zodchestvo for the Tomsk Museum of Science and Technology, is now among the named winners with two projects: LCD on the street

Tipanov and the microdistrict in Tsarskoe Selo / Pushkin, and one implementation - the educational building of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University in the building of "Mikhailovskaya Dacha". The tablets of buildings claiming to be Daedalus are placed on the inner surface of the far end wall - you need to go all the way to meet them. Here, in addition to the School of Management, is the Moscow Wine house of Vladimir Plotkin and Sergei Tchoban. Two realizations marked in the spring at the Golden Section: the Re-Form apartment complex on Khromov Street by the BADR5 design bureau and a group of metro stations on the Lyublinskaya line from Butyrskaya to Petrovsko-Razumovskaya by Nikolai Shumakov. I remember that in the spring Nikolai Shumakov became the president of not only the AIA, but also the CAP, that is, now he is the head of the organization organizing the festival.

Andersen”by Vladimir Bindeman, the golf club of the ArchGroup bureau, the residential complex“Tikhaya Roshcha”in Ufa, three restorations, three improvements, including the“White Nights Boulevard”by Oleg Manov. And besides, there are three buildings at once by Ingmar Vitvitsky's bureau: a blue sports complex on Bychiy Island in St. Petersburg, a red sports complex in Ulan-Ude and a completely different, ornamental pine house for a family of five in Finland. A few more - about 4-5, projects of Vitvitsky, were exhibited among the participants of the competition, who were not among the winners, it seems that this bureau is represented more extensively than others.

In a word, the festival is similar to itself, it cannot be different, 25 years after all, a silver wedding. Here, as always, there are projects, both surprisingly decorated and surprisingly fabulous. But this year, it seems, there are significantly fewer churches (all have already been built?) And, as it were, a little more landscaping, although all the most sonorous projects in this area, for example, the works of KB Strelka, exist in a parallel space and are not exhibited. On the contrary, despite the fact that a certain circle of well-known Moscow architects as a rule does not participate in the Zodchestvo competition, the SPEECH bureau and a number of relatively young and already well-known architects are now regularly present at the festival. There are many conference venues at the festival, where they discuss, I suppose, almost all urgent problems of modern Russian architecture; now - renovation, then - Zaryadye. In front of the amphitheater, there are benches with built-in phone chargers. Everything is developing. The winners of the review competition of the Union of Architects and the owners of "Crystal Daedalus" and "Tatlin" will be announced on Saturday, October 7, from 15:00 to 18:00, on the main stage.
