The customer of the art center was the developer Aranya: the new building is located in a residential area of this company on the Pacific coast. Note that in the neighborhood, in the dunes near the water, a museum has been built - a branch of the Beijing UCCA, so that a kind of "art scene" is being formed in the popular resort of Qinhuangdao, which is popular among the capital's residents.
Neri & Hu architects have taken into account the dual function of their building: it is not only an art gallery, but also a community center for local residents. Therefore, an inner courtyard with an amphitheater is placed in the center of the building. On ordinary days, its "bottom" can be filled with water, turning it into a decorative pond, but in general the courtyard is intended for meetings, performances and other similar events.

The exhibition halls located on all floors inspect the visitors, slowly ascending in a spiral around the courtyard, which has the shape of an inverted cone. At the end of the route, they find themselves on the roof, from where they can glimpse both the surroundings and down into the amphitheater.

Art Center Aranya combines different types of concrete that emphasize its "materiality". Thus, the facade is made up of fiber-glass concrete modules, which are reminiscent of the buildings of post-war modernism. Also in the building you can find panels with different fillers and shotcrete. On the outside, this material is complemented by bronze electroplated steel and bamboo of solid doors, on the inside - bronze and oak wood.
