Why did the Institute of Business and Design decide to take part in the Zodchestvo festival this year? What will it demonstrate to visitors?
Vladislav Savinkin: At the B&D Institute, the Department of Architectural Environment and Design, every six months, organizes a demonstration of the final semester works of students. This is a common thing for us. Therefore, the proposal to create a project for Zodchestvo'19 was not a surprise for our students. We involved third and fourth year students in our work and selected nine best works from the proposed options, which we will place on our small "island" in the middle of the huge space of the festival. Demonstration of projects will take place at the presentation of the School of Transparency on October 19 at 11:30 in Gostiny Dvor.
What will the final works look like? Will they be presented as stands or design objects?
V. S.: There will be both. We will decorate the pavilion with images of the university space - this will make the institute more open to the guests of the festival, allowing them to immerse themselves in the university environment. On the central podium, we will place an object designed by one of our students specifically for the festival. It is called "Teacher and Student" and personifies a kind of transparency and interaction of these two characters distant from each other in the process of learning, communication and cooperation.
How else will your project have something in common with the main theme of the festival - "transparency"?
V. S.: We considered every element of our stand, its equipment and presentation, as synonymous with transparency. A person who enters our cell, this alcove, will somehow join the Department of Architectural Environment and Design: he will walk through a transparent wall, enter the zone of the Institute of Business and Design, see the space and interiors of our university on a large-scale image, feel its atmosphere, immerse himself into it.
Is your exposition interactive? How can you interact with her?
V. S.: First of all, all guests will be able to take pictures in the space where the institute's stand will be located: the scale of the picture will be commensurate with human growth. It will also be possible to touch the object "Teacher and student": it is made of a transparent chemical vessel, into which the electric holders of two lamps were built. They symbolize the figures of the teacher and student. On the first day, they will differ from each other: the teacher will be presented in the form of a large transparent lamp, and the student - in the form of a small, ornate, complex, made of frosted white glass. On the second day, both lamps will be white and matte, but in different sizes. On the third day, we will screw in light bulbs of the same size and shape, they will both be transparent. Thus, we will show that as he learns and develops, a student is equated with a master, and upon graduation, he outgrows him. Visitors will be able to take any lamp out of the box and try to screw it into the socket, trying on one of two roles.
