Within the framework of the Forum "Business School of Low-Rise Construction", an award ceremony was held for the winners of the All-Russian architectural competition "ArchPortal". The competition was initiated by SIEGENIA, one of the largest European manufacturers of window and door hardware and ventilation systems.
In a welcome speech Olga Ivanova, Marketing Director of SIEGENIA GRUPPE North-East Region, noted that gantry glazing systems are widely used in Europe because they form the image of a “dream house” with a perspective view of the surrounding area, with a huge amount of natural light. In Russia, panoramic systems are not yet widely used, because both customers and often architects have a prejudice against large areas of glazing. They are not sure that such structures will reliably protect the house from rain, thunderstorms, frost.
“We hope that thanks to the joint work of the manufacturer and the architect, there will be more and more houses in Russia with original design solutions, with large areas of glazing, revealing spaces,” Olga summed up.
The competition received 33 projects from 12 cities of Russia, as well as from Prague (Czech Republic). The jury of the competition included:
- Sasha Lukich, managing partner of the Portner Architects design bureau, architect.
- Michael and Helen Miroshkin, heads of Geometrix Design.
- Sergey Nasedkin, head of ARCH 625, architect.
- Vitaly Samogorov and Valentin Pastushenko, heads of the Architectural Bureau of Pastushenko and Samogorov, GAP.
On behalf of the founder of the competition, the jury included Olga Ivanova, Marketing Director for the North-East Region of SIEGENIA GRUPPE. On behalf of the organizers - Larisa Malivanova, General Director of Publishing House "Construction Expert".
In nomination "Residential objects" the winner is the architect Vitaly Kharitoshin, Bureau "Arch. Volume" with the project "Private House" (Moscow).
The structure is located on a relief with a large drop. This height difference is used in the architectural design of the house. The entrance is directly to the upper level, where the common area is located - the kitchen, dining room, living room and master bedroom with an office.
On the lower level there is a guest block, a spa area with a swimming pool, a bath complex and a relaxation room. Also on this level there is a gym and a workshop with access to the courtyard. The pool has a double-height space, around which a bypass gallery is organized, and a translucent roof is used for additional natural lighting.
The house has panoramic windows and several terraces at different levels. The exits from the premises to the terraces and the courtyard are made using the lift-and-slide system PORTAL HS from SIEGENIA.

In nomination "Public facilities" the winner is a private architect Egor Rybin with the project "Cafe in the Park" (Nizhny Novgorod).
This work was done for the park. Sverdlov in the very center of the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The main objective of the project was the humane and organic immersion of the object into the natural landscape. Ensuring the natural coexistence and interpenetration of two spaces. Reflection on the environment was expressed in the overall volumetric solution, with open terraces and an exploited roof, in the choice of facade materials and abundant glazing.
For a complete sense of the absence of borders and connection with the eco-structure of the park, the portal systems "PORTAL HS" and "PORTAL FS PLUS" by SIEGENIA are used in the project.
