The estate in the north-west of France Le Château des Pères - Le Château Des Pères - until recently belonged to the monastic congregation of the Holy Spirit: hence its current name, "castle of the holy fathers". But in 2011 it was bought by the Legendre family, owners of Groupe Legendre, a group of companies dealing with real estate, construction, energy, etc. The purchase was initiated by its former CEO, now the chairman of the supervisory board, Jean-Paul Legendre: he grew up next to the castle, in the town of Piré-sur-Seche.
The buildings of the estate have been meticulously restored, complemented by an event hall in the form of a greenhouse, the "bistronomic" restaurant La Table des Pères, studios of artists and craftsmen, a sculpture park with more than 70 art objects. Now this area of 31 hectares is used for a variety of events, private and corporate: weddings, seminars, etc. However, there was a great lack of a hotel, so Jean-Paul Legendre came up with, and the Agence d'Architecture Unité bureau brought the hotel in the form of a tree to the realization.
This building is 28 m high and has a total area of about 2000 m2. In the center there is a "trunk" made of reinforced concrete with an elevator shaft; to it are connected bridges - "branches" made of steel, and "leaves" or "capsules" hang on them: 42 numbers. Each room with an area of 26 m2 with panoramic views will receive an aluminum cladding - the BEMO-MONRO system, which is suitable for any roof silhouette, on the BEMO-DOME substructure.
The hotel, as its authors and customers explain, is innovative for France in its design. In addition, it is planned to make it particularly luxurious, which will affect both the rooms and the spa in the basement - with a swimming pool, balneotherapy, sauna and hammam. Visitors are expected not only from Rennes, the capital of Brittany (half an hour away), but also from Paris and London - these capitals are only two hours away. Construction began in February 2019 and is scheduled to open in the first months of 2021.
