The new house is located near the capital of Marche Ancona, on the edge of the commune of Polverigi, in the village of Rustico. It is built on the crest of a hill, and the lack of fences makes it part of the countryside: the grasses of its site seem to be an extension of barley, wheat, sunflowers and beans in the surrounding fields.

The architects took the geometry of the traditional Marche house as a basis and "dissected" it with ideas of radical Italian architecture of the 1970s, in particular, Remo Buti and Gianni Pettena, with whom the head of the bureau Simone Subissati studied in Florence …

The architects emphasize that they avoided the "temptation of vernacularity", their house completely belongs to modernity, but they certainly did not escape the temptation of tradition. Even their pool is intentionally similar to a typical local rainwater collection tank.

The result is Casa di Confine, the "frontier house" where the boundaries between the inside, the private, the residential, and the outside, the "labor", open are blurred. This is facilitated by an opening in the center of the house, large windows on the first floor, hidden behind shutters on a sunny day, a semi-open space on the second - with a wooden frame and a polymer membrane. The balcony is fenced with just a net, like a chicken coop. The small windows of the bedrooms on the second floor are framed with mirrors, so looking out of them you can still see a lot.

Against this background, natural ventilation (no artificial), rainwater harvesting, passive cooling and heating are expected.

The frame at the house, except for the membrane part, is steel; the lower part of the facade is also steel, covered only with soil that protects against moisture. Top - self-cleaning plaster. All furniture, from chairs to kitchen units, was designed by Simone Subissati himself, using mainly solid ash.
