At the end of 2020, the repair of the roof in the building of the New Tretyakov Gallery was completed. The updated structures will maintain the temperature and humidity conditions necessary for storing works of art and protect the gallery from emergencies. The core of the roofing cake is the non-combustible and durable ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation.

The renovation of the roof at the branch of the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val went on throughout the past year. The contractor repaired the roof with a total area of about 11 thousand square meters. m. Since the main exposition consists of paintings from the times of the Russian avant-garde of 1900-1920, the main task was to maintain a certain microclimate in the halls: temperatures of 17-19 ° C and humidity of 50-60%. If the air is too warm and dry, the fibers of the canvas can collapse, and the environment saturated with moisture will become favorable for the growth of fungi and mold.

Roof insulation made of stone wool RUF BATTS N EXTRA and RUF BATTS V EXTRA will help to create the necessary conditions in the halls of the museum. The slabs have low thermal conductivity and help maintain the required temperature in the building, while significantly reducing heating and cooling costs. Insulation has low water absorption and high vapor transmission capacity, due to which condensation does not form in the heat-insulating layer. ROCKWOOL roof insulation is highly durable and resistant to stress: during installation, it can be walked on, and after installation, it can withstand heavy snow loads without loss of geometry and other characteristics.

For the preservation of world masterpieces, as well as the safety of visitors and museum workers, the fire resistance of the building materials used is extremely important. ROCKWOOL roofing insulation, according to Federal Law No. 123 and GOST 30244-94, is defined as non-combustible with the assignment of the fire hazard class KM0, and the roof structure, when using stone wool, has a constructive fire hazard class K0. The declared characteristics are checked and confirmed by the VNIIPO EMERCOM of the Russian Federation. In an emergency, insulation will help contain the spread of fire, providing valuable time to save people and property.

Reconstruction of the roof is the first step towards a large-scale renovation of the New Tretyakov Gallery. The corresponding project was developed by the head of the OMA / AMO bureau, winner of the Pritsker Prize, Rem Koolhaas, together with the chief architect of TPO "Reserve" Vladimir Plotkin. Tentatively, the work will begin in 2023 and will take 5 years.
