The new Vaughan Metropolitan Center subway station is an important metropolitan area facility in the Toronto metropolitan area. It became the terminus of metropolitan subway line # 1, the first busiest in Canada and one of the busiest in all of North America, completing a new stretch of six stations. The Vaughan Metropolitan Center is a hub that connects the metro to express buses and regular ground transportation.

The main entrance pavilion immediately attracts attention. Inside, there is a pillar-free space with high ceilings, from where daylight penetrates deep into the station. But the main thing is the roof, which determines the appearance of the building. Its organic form resembles the carapace of a huge metal battleship, as if descended from the pages of a fantasy novel.

This unusual roof is made of titanium-zinc RHEINZINK using the double standing seam technique. It is covered with almost 1115 m2 of RHEINZINK-CLASSIC custom-rolled titanium-zinc. This coating has a high solar reflectance, and the project itself exceeds the requirements of the Canadian National Energy Standard by 40% in terms of energy efficiency and is LEED Silver certified.

For the installation of the roof, more than 1000 panels were made, among which there were no identical shapes and sizes. Production was carried out on CNC machines, thanks to which the dimensions and profile of each panel were realized with millimeter precision.
