FLOS launches the production of a new family of TATOU lamps, designed by Patricia Urquiola.
On the occasion of the London Design Festival, FLOS announced the international launch of the new Tatou family of lamps, designed by Patricia Urquiola. The new creations in the Flos decorative collection were celebrated during a cocktail party at the Flos / Moroso showroom in London at Rosebery Avenue 7-15, designed by the same designer and opened in 2009.
Following the famous Chasen lamp created for FLOS in 2007, the East gave inspiration to Patricia in the creative birth of Tatou. Classic frames in the ancient Japanese style are becoming a model of strength and strength, as well as dynamism, lightness and flexibility. Thus, the idea of an illuminated body is born, formed of 4 identical elements intertwined with each other, forming a single vault, which spills light directly to the bottom or, conversely, to the top, soft light emanates from the stencil lamp shade, creating a harmonious play of light and shadow.
The name "Tatou" comes from French and means "armadillo", an amazing mammal with protective armor made of horny plates. The Tatou arch also protects the eyes from direct rays, but at the same time it is graceful and light. Tatou is available as a floor lamp, table lamp and pendant lamp, in two sizes and three colors: white, black or plum, combined on a white, black or pink metal base. Different colors correspond to different lighting effects and come from a long search for the interaction of light and color.
Tatou foreshadows its status as a cult item for design aficionados thanks to the synthesis of formal and functional search, geometric shapes, modern and airy style that combines poetic sensibility with technical knowledge.
