Brick is one of the most popular materials for cladding buildings. The aesthetic and functional qualities of bricks remain unrivaled; they are distinguished by their beauty, durability and respectability. This material is popular with architects, developers, and people living or working in buildings. Brick is associated with such outstanding architectural monuments as the Moscow Kremlin or St. Basil's Cathedral …

At the same time, modern building codes, in particular energy efficiency standards, often require the use of a hinged ventilated facade with insulation. Traditional massive brick walls, from which pre-revolutionary and Stalinist buildings were built, today it is expensive, time-consuming and impractical to build. In addition, traditional brickwork requires high quality installation and experienced professionals. The slightest irregularities in the masonry will be read by the eye and spoil the impression. Other constraints are the slow installation speed and the limited season for construction work using wet processes.

HILTI has figured out how to combine the incompatible: brickwork and ventilated façade. For this purpose, Hilti has developed four alternative methods for creating illegal structures with masonry or imitation.

VFH * BRICKS system for fastening masonry

In fact, this is a brick as such, which outwardly does not differ in any way from a traditional brick wall without a ventilation facade.

The supporting subsystem for future masonry is assembled on powerful brackets and reinforced stainless steel profiles, and a full-size or lightweight facing brick is laid on it using the traditional method, tying the masonry reinforcement to the supporting profiles of the subsystem. A certain disadvantage of this method is the high cost of bricks. An example is the house in Bryusov Lane.

VFH * system for attaching grouted clinker or concrete tiles

Allows you to get one hundred percent imitation of brickwork with a significantly lower weight of the cladding. An important feature is that all work on the assembly of the facade system, except for filling the joints with a grout mixture, can be performed in any season and in any weather. The use of special Hilti stainless steel clamps allows you to get the perfect appearance of the facade. The warranty is given for a period of at least 50 years (confirmed by the Technical Certificate of the Ministry of Construction of Russia).

Imitation of brickwork with grout tiles can be combined with other types of cladding, as is done in the house on the street. Mikhailova. For the convenience of combining different claddings in one building, HILTI offers a “one-stop” building closure system.

VFH * solution for dry bonding of clinker or concrete tiles

This method is used when it is required to ensure a high speed of installation in any weather, and there is also a need for periodic repair and maintenance of the facade, implying its partial disassembly and assembly.

Lightweight (compared to full-size bricks) shaped tiles are installed in a special stainless steel clamp rail, which has a spring clip so that the tiles do not accidentally fall out during strong vibrations or seasonal temperature expansion of the facade elements. Any tile can be dismantled at any time if necessary, for example, in order to attach scaffolding or conduct communications behind the facing, and then put it back in place. And in order to exclude unauthorized dismantling, special anti-vandal tongues are provided in the clamp bus.

Installation method of clinker tiles on Knauf Aquapanel®

This method is considered to be the most economical. In this case, Knauf Aquapanel® slabs are installed using stainless self-tapping screws directly on the supporting profiles of the metal subsystem and take part of the load, and clinker or small-format ceramic tiles are attached to it by the adhesive method. To prevent wet processes for laying tiles on the Aquapanel® base from becoming a limitation that slows down the process, partial pre-assembly is successfully used - up to 80% of all tiles are glued to Aquapanel® plates, which have a very accurate geometry, according to a template in the factory. and in this form, already pre-assembled modules are delivered to the construction site and assembled. The seams between the modules are processed using Knauf technology. And in favorable weather, the remaining 20% of the tiles are glued and the joints are grouted.

A huge advantage of this method is the possibility of any orientation of the tiles on the plane of the facade, which makes it possible to simulate even complex masonry. It is also much easier to solve problems with complex facade plastics, plane differences, and radius elements.

It should also be noted that with this method, brickwork, plaster, majolica, mosaic, etc. are extremely successfully combined on one facade. An example is the club house "Aristocrat" on the street. Veresaev by Mezonproject bureau.

Given that each of the four methods has its own advantages, they can be combined in one building. For example, the entrance group and the stylobate part of the building, which are perceived from a close distance, should be performed by the first method, facing with real brick, in the upper part, use brick tiles with grout, and, for example, use the third method of dry masonry at the corners. When combining several methods within one facility, it is important that HILTI specialists provide technical support at all stages of construction, excluding inconsistencies, that is, the entire building is closed “from one source” with detailed engineering support.

*** The HILTI company is an international corporation with branches in 30 countries of the world, which specializes in the field of construction products, supplying facade assembly systems of any complexity, anchor systems and construction tools. HILTI provides comprehensive solutions and technical support for their application in the construction of facilities. HILTI has been working in Russia since 1991. The company took part in the construction of such significant buildings and ensembles as the Evolution tower in Moscow City, the Microgorod in the forest residential complex, the Skolkovo villa area and many others.
