Ten years ago, high-rise construction in Moscow was a relative rarity, Moscow City was one of a kind, and there was only talk of a "Big City" in the territories of industrial zones within a certain radius around it. Now residential towers with a height of more than 150 m are growing in almost all districts of the city, gradually changing its silhouette.

The HIDE residential complex is one of such complexes: 41 floors, total height of about 150 m. According to the project of ADM architects, it is being built by MR Group on the banks of Setun, in a part of the city that can probably be attributed to the zone of influence of the Big City: not far from the Kutuzovskaya and Studencheskaya metro stations, and from the Poklonnaya Gora park, near the MCC and the TTC parallel to it. The neighborhood is contrasting: on the one hand, the city highway and the railway, which, however, provide good transport accessibility, on the other, the bend of the Setun River surrounded by a park. To descend into its valley, future residents of the complex will simply need to cross the street.

The head of the ADM bureau, Andrei Romanov, said that the composition and height of the buildings were determined by the exceptional visibility of the site and its specific characteristics.

“The fact that the towers will be high-rise became clear at once. The site itself dictated such a decision. After all, its main advantage is the views that will open from the windows of the apartments.

The search for architectural imagery turned out to be the most laborious and responsible in this case, since the height of the towers is 150 meters, they can be seen from many points. Therefore, our main task was to achieve a harmonious perception of the complex in the panorama of the city."

Even before the design began, a visual analysis of the territory was made using aerial photography, which showed that the specific characteristics of the site are more than attractive. From the windows facing the northeast, the entire Presnensky district and the Moscow City business center will be visible. On the east side - the Berezhkovsky bridge and the Novodevichy monastery. A view to the south-west from a height of 100-150 m will open a green panorama of the Luzhniki complex, Kosygin and Mosfilmovskaya streets, the high-rise of Moscow State University, Vorobyovy Gory and the picturesque bend of the Moskva River. It was this view that seemed to be the most valuable to both the customer and the architects, so one of the two extended facades of each tower looks exactly to the south-west.

The site is a compact patch with a total area of about 2 hectares with a complexly indented contour and a height difference of about 5 m from north to south. With its northern and eastern borders, it approaches the MCC and the TTK junction, while the southern border adjoins the 1st Setunsky passage, from the opposite side of which the green river bank begins. To the east, almost close to the HIDE residential complex, a small Soviet microdistrict begins: houses from 9 to 14 and 25 floors, a large school with kindergartens. The area is small and naturally bounded by roads and a river, but includes an educational complex, a school and two kindergartens. In addition, you can see that the construction of the towers here began quite early - already in 1975, a 25-storey building appeared on its western border, for its time it was quite high; in the late 1990s, two more 25-storey towers were built. The new residential complex exceeds their height by a little less than twice and in some ways even continues the urban planning tradition laid down in this fragment of Moscow.

Stylobate of HIDE Residential Complex includes underground parking and occupies almost the entire spot of the designated area, leveling the elevation difference. The roof of the stylobate is slightly higher than the MCC line, which allows the courtyard located on it to distance itself from the transport arteries. The northern and eastern contour of the stylobate descends towards the roads with a smooth green rampart, when viewed from this side, the stylobate looks like a natural elevation - the idea is that the towers grow from a hill and trees, and not from an artificial structure. From the side of the driveway, the stylobate recedes from the red line, leaving space for a ground guest parking, a taxi-off zone and a small pedestrian street along the facade of the complex.

The towers themselves, rectangular in plan and equal in height, 41 floors in each, are grouped exactly along the passage: two along the contour of a city street, between them - a two-story public building. The third - symmetrically between them a little in the depth. The layout of the towers in the southern part is explained by the requirements for insolation of neighboring houses: move the composition slightly to the left or slightly to the right, and the whole block will be covered with a huge shadow, - explains Andrey Romanov. In addition, houses are grouped in the part facing the city street, and a private courtyard for residents is located behind them, public and private spaces are zoned and subtly separated; The lavishly landscaped courtyard also additionally protects the lower floors of the towers from noise.

The architectural image, in contrast to the general volumetric-spatial solution, did not take shape immediately: many options were worked out, both with identical and with completely different towers. However, the search went to the benefit of the project - the authors are sure.

Ultimately, each skyscraper got its own image, but within the framework of an integral concept, they rather complement each other with diversity than compete. The South Tower, located closer to the Moskva River and designed, among other things, to look both from the water and from the Vorobyovy Gory side, is designed with particular emphasis. Its plan is made up of three plates, offset by an equal pitch. Facade plastics are based on staggered alternation of bay windows in golden anodized aluminum frames and balconies with transparent railings. Each element is located with a slight shift on each floor - this is how the entire volume as a whole gets an S-shaped contour, a diagonal counterpost - a silhouette, in general terms, similar to a giant figure walking towards the river. Note that the projections of the bay windows vary from shallow at the top and bottom to very pronounced in the middle, "at the waist" of the tower, working on the effect of composite and even "waving" matter, which seems to be constantly transforming right before our eyes, which is especially noticeable in different angles when walking. When viewed from the front, a diagonal curve on each side folds into a curved golden "profile".

The tower on the left gravitates towards the Setun river valley and enters into dialogue with it. The architects, seeking to emphasize its natural origin, in one of the options proposed to solve its facades in brick. But later, for the sake of the integrity of the approach, high-tech glass and aluminum, characteristic of skyscrapers, were adopted for all three towers. The brick was abandoned - as a material, but not a texture.

The volume of the tower, stable and solid from below, seems completely weightless from above thanks to wide vertical "ribs" made of tiny aluminum cassettes, which imitate brick in color, shape and texture. The “ribs”, ascending the glass facade, gradually become thinner, and then completely dissolve against the background of the sky along with the glass “crown” of the top of the skyscraper.

The central tower is the most material, solid, static. It emphasizes its status with clear articulations of the mesh façade and its clear structure. Here architects work in contrast, thereby attracting maximum attention to the volume, compositionally relegated to the background. Hence, probably, its dark color. Whereas in the other two high-rises, gold and silver aluminum details only complement the look, creating accents, here metal dominates. The tower is glass, but all the stained glass binders are made of dark metal. Window openings are framed by rich bronze aluminum frames. The walls between them are completely black as coal. And they appear even darker due to their concave shape.

Architects focus on the combination of textures. Using only two active materials for the facades of the towers, they achieve an amazing variety. There are many shades here - golden, silver, brass, bronze, anthracite black, and a wealth of textures - from matte-rough to glossy, and a variety of plastics - niches, ledges, recesses, volumetric patterns. At the same time, all the variety of details practically disappears in the upper floors of buildings, turning into a thin cut, giving priority to glass and a small "attic" of penthouses, in which the ceiling height is 5.2 m, as opposed to 3.5 m in all other floors.

The housing estate is quite diverse - from studios to four-room apartments and penthouses on the 41st floor. View windows, panoramic, with glazing to the floor. The two-storey entrance pavilion houses the central hall, concierge service, recreation areas, a cafe and a restaurant with the possibility of arranging an outdoor terrace in front of the complex. In addition, a grocery store, a bakery, a pharmacy, a beauty salon, a fitness room, an educational center for preschoolers, coworking, and meeting rooms are planned to be located on the ground floors. Thus, the developer intends to implement in the project the popular vertical city theme - when everything you need for life and work is located in one building.

The central hall leads to the private area of the complex, where the ADM team of architects designed a real landscape park. For all the expressiveness of the facades, it can be safely called one of the key advantages of the project. The park area has taken a lot from the natural landscape, probably due to its proximity to the Setun river valley, and at the same time it has the orderliness and harmony of a traditional English park.

The courtyard, like the entire building ensemble, is located on the roof of the stylobate and is noticeably raised above the carriageway of the third ring that surrounds it. There is a large rectangular park, a "secret garden" with gazebos for secluded relaxation, green lawns with a lawn, yoga areas, a workout and an amphitheater overlooking a spreading oak, which is planned to be planted immediately by an adult, perennial.

The entire territory is permeated by wide winding paths for walking. At the most remote, northern point, a children's playground is organized. Bulk green hills surround it on all sides, forming something like a shallow crater or canyon, safe and protected from the wind. Walking paths do not enter the playground, but hang over it with spectacular loops of bridges.

Surprisingly, in a relatively small area, the architects managed to place all the elements of a modern park. These are walking trails, places for sports, and spaces for games with children, and quiet cozy corners for rest or work, and, of course, a wide variety of green plants. There is even a bike path, you can start the bike ride right from the yard and continue along the embankments of the Moskva River.

The construction of the HIDE residential complex has already begun. And, judging by the project presented, it should become a noticeable addition to the family of residential skyscrapers that change the Moscow silhouette.

Note that such towers are ultra-modern housing, designed for high quality construction and high-rise panoramas of the city, from a top-down view, from where Moscow is perceived fundamentally differently, as a kind of large-scale and impressive integrity. We repeat - until recently, this "Manhattan" type of housing arose mainly in Moscow City, and now the city is actively growing with projects of high-rise towers, each of which reasonably strives for a special, noticeable and memorable image - high-rise requires careful sculpting of form. But the new residential towers, and among them the HIDE residential complex, differ from the City, where for a long time they were not engaged in landscaping at all, emphasized attention to open public space. Due to the significant number of storeys, the houses can afford, stretching up, not to occupy the entire plot, to allocate the maximum area in the lower tier to create a courtyard and even a mini-park. So the towers combine a subtly modeled diverse shape, developed infrastructure that will work, among other things, for the city - and the ability to live at a bird's eye view.
