The new building of the Swiss Embassy in Washington DC will be designed by New York architect Stephen Hall, created in collaboration with the Swiss architects studio "Rüssli Architects".
The building, made of dark and light concrete and glass, will be located on a hill above the city. Therefore, great attention has been paid to the use of this unique location. A visitor to the embassy, entering the lobby under the glass dome, will find himself in front of the rear glass wall of the building, which overlooks the George Washington Monument. The spacious terrace behind it will allow you to admire the view of the city. The embassy complex assumes a clear division into public spaces and a private apartment for the ambassador and his family. The light and dark surfaces of the building are also clearly separated, resembling, according to the architect, the snow and graphite rocks of the Swiss Alps.
