Khan Shatyry continues the line of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, built by Foster's office in Astana this year, combining technical innovations with a very original formal solution, which is often difficult to imagine implemented in Western countries.
The new complex will close the northern end of the main axis of the Astana plan. With a height of only one ellipsoidal base in the plan of 200 m, this building will become the main high-rise dominant of the city. A mast will be installed on this base, supporting a huge tent made of fine mesh covered with ETFE fluoropolymer - a unique material that allows light to pass through and protects the interior from heat and cold.
An area of 100,000 square meters is formed inside. m with an extensive city park, shops, cinemas, cafes and a concert venue, where Astana residents will be able to spend their free time regardless of the season and weather.
The park rises to almost the entire height of the support mast on curved terraces, where visitors to Khan Shatyry can rest. There will also be a tropical water garden with ponds, rivers and a waterfall. The highest platform will also serve as a viewing platform.
