According to the architect's idea, a rounded structure made of wood pieces that are loosely adjacent to each other will allow visitors to appreciate the unusual play of light that arises due to such a structure in his interior. Because of its "visual" function, the pavilion is named "Sclera" (the shell of the eye).

This project was born out of the Size + Material festival program, in which designers work with material manufacturers to create objects “on the border of architecture, design, engineering and sculpture” for different locations in London.

In Sclera's case, the site was located around the Royal Festival Hall, and the material for Ajaye was provided by the American Hardwood Export Council timber suppliers. Moreover, the latter were surprised by the choice of the architect: the timber of the tulip tree, from which the pavilion is built, is usually used as an inexpensive technical material.

Ajaye was attracted to her by her flexibility, strength, pleasant texture and rich color palette, ranging from pale yellow to medium brown shades.

The pavilion will be open to the public until October 19, after which it will be sold at auction.
