The facade of the Kring complex is cut with round openings in "telescopic" frames. They are designed to depict diverging sound waves, and the rectangular block of the building itself is a huge speaker system. At the same time, the architects were inspired by the painting "Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh, trying to turn the wall of the building into its abstract version.
Inside, in a huge white atrium, crossed in different directions by pipes-corridors, the theme of sound waves continues on different scales. The building houses spaces for various media installations, conferences and social events. But the main purpose of the building is very utilitarian: it is a showroom of the development company GumHo (Kumho E&C), which exhibits models of apartments in its new buildings on the second floor of the center. The construction for this purpose of an entire building designed by prominent South Korean architects was justified, since this company positions itself not just as a developer, but as a seller of a “lifestyle”.
Another media complex in the Far East is only being planned: next to the OMA bureau in Shenzhen, the headquarters of the Shenzen Media Group will be erected. This 180 m high tower will house television and recording studios, technical rooms and offices. The interior space of the building will be united by an "ecological atrium", partly overlooking the facade and bringing sunlight into the interior of the building.
