Saint-Louis is a French city, but at the same time it is a suburb of Swiss Basel: it is located in the so-called. the area of the Three Borders, where France, Germany and Switzerland converge at one point.
There are many single-family residential buildings at the Le Forum construction site, so Manuel Gautran took into account this modest scale: instead of placing her two-hall complex in a large volume, she decided it in the form of 13 parts, each with a gable roof (referring to neighboring buildings "Private sector"). They are sheathed with expanded mesh, painted in warm copper color (the paint was specially developed for the building by Akzo Nobel). This façade reflects a mixed context - orange-tiled houses and industrial buildings with black pipes.
The gap between the mesh and the reinforced concrete walls of the building became a shelter for technical equipment, as well as a climatic "buffer" that saves on cooling and heating the premises.
Inside, on a total area of 5713 m2, there is a gym (it is intended, among other things, for physical education lessons and school competitions) with a size of 1870 m2 and a "party hall" (870 m2). They can be used for sporting events, conferences, banquets and concerts. In the case of exhibitions and fairs, it is possible to combine them.
