The "Gates of Abuja" complex will be built on the highway leading from the airport to the capital of the country - the city of Abuja. Its main part will be a construction of abstract shapes, inspired by traditional Nigerian arc harps and looms. It is thrown over the highway in the form of a pedestrian bridge and is oriented from north to south, which should symbolize the unity of the country. The monument will be made of concrete and painted in the dark red color of local clay.
Around will be created a space for cultural events and recreation, as well as a reception hall for official visits of heads of foreign states. Also, on an area of 40 hectares, among winding paths, ramps and reservoirs, an amphitheater for 800 seats, covered with a roof with solar panels, a market, playgrounds, a sports complex and a zoo will be built.
The victory of Ehrlich's project cannot be called accidental: in the 1970s, he served in the peacekeeping force stationed in Nigeria, and then lived and taught in that country, so he is well acquainted with the local traditional architecture.
