The structure includes an opera house with a hall for 1600 seats, a concert hall for 1200 spectators and a multifunctional hall for 400 seats. The complex also includes a museum and a hotel.
The Bolshoi Theater is made up of four buildings surrounded by terraces and united by a light openwork ceiling. Architects see this as a metaphor for the famous landscapes around the city, including the Laoshan massif, whose peaks are lost in the clouds. Terraces (representing plateaus) and the surrounding park connect the building to the nearby South Sea coast.
The opera house is located in the northern building of the building and faces the sea; there is a glazed main foyer, the walls and floor of which are faced with natural stone, which continues the metaphor of the mountain. The stage and machinery of the hall can be easily transformed for opera, ballet, musical or acrobatic performance.
