The Urban Awards recognize urban residential properties both under construction and already completed. An authoritative jury, consisting mainly of developers and realtors, evaluates residential complexes truly comprehensively - the project can be awarded an award for its economic feasibility, marketing and management, high construction standards and consumer qualities, and, of course, for its outstanding architectural appearance. By the way, the last nomination is called “Residential Complex with the Best Architecture”: it may not be too poetic, but it is immediately clear why this or that project was awarded with an elegant glass statuette. This year the architecture of the Garden Quarters residential complex, designed by Sergei Skuratov, was recognized as the best.
“I was very pleased to receive the Urban Awards-2010,” said the architect in an interview with Archi.ru. - Of all the projects submitted for the competition, 5 or 6 buildings, in my opinion, could apply for victory in this nomination, as well as only two projects of complex development, and I am extremely flattered that in the end the jury voted in favor of Sadovy Kvartalov ". It seems to me that the recognition of the highest quality architecture of this project is extremely important both for the customers of the residential complex and for its reputation in general. I hope the award will help both the sale of apartments in the Garden Quarters and the implementation of this project."
Another winner of the Urban Awards-2010 was the 11 Stanislavsky complex (ADM bureau (Moscow) and John McAslan + Partners (London)), which won the category “Best residential complex of the elite class of the year”. The jury noted the delicacy of the architectural solution of the complex: its artistic concept is based on the idea of simple, laconic volumes, the expressiveness of which is given by the drawing of windows and the combination of materials of different colors and textures. Among the indisputable advantages of the residential complex, experts also named the accomplishment of the territory of the complex and the presence of a green courtyard free of cars, flexible layouts of apartments and their maximum convenience. “The Urban Awards are a very flattering award for us,” says Andrey Romanov, head of the architectural bureau ADM. - This is an award given for the totality of the project's consumer qualities, and for the jury there are no insignificant trifles - with the same passion, experts study the facades of the complex, and its master plan, and floor plans, and the transport scheme. Personally, I am extremely impressed with this approach to assessing an architectural work, because architecture is a complex concept, and, as they say, a house is not a single façade, so I feel great pride that the 11 Stanislavsky complex won the Urban Awards."
The Legend of Tsvetnoy MFC was named the best elite-class facility under construction in Moscow; in the business class, the Aksioma RC and Dominion RC became the best implementation and construction projects, respectively. "Developer of the Year", according to Urban Awards-2010, was GUTA-Development, and the most discussed project of the year was RC "Granatny 6".
